Product Description
Part Bug, Part Shrimp. Plenty to Get Their Attention.
The Buggy Shrimp 3.4" has long antennae that wave in the water and compact legs that quiver, giving fish plenty to investigate. In freshwater, its buggy profile suggests a variety of tasty critters, making it a great fit for Ned rigs. Along the coast, that same shape takes on a shrimpy personality for inshore fishing. Let it pause, let those antennae wave, and give a curious fish a chance to bite.
Prefer a traditional shrimp shape with a flat gliding tail and a belly slot for EWG rigging? Meet Shrimpy Shrimp 3".
Best For
- Largemouth and smallmouth bass on Ned rigs and finesse Texas rigs
- Inshore redfish and flounder with a shrimp-like profile on Ned rigs or traditional jigheads
- Carolina rigs and skirted jig trailers
Use When
Reach for the Buggy Shrimp when you want a compact bait with movement worth slowing down for. Fish it as a buggy little meal in freshwater, or try a Ned presentation inshore as a less-common way to show fish a shrimp-like bait. Traditional inshore rigging works too. Freshwater or saltwater, the long antennae and quivering legs give this little hybrid its own personality.
How to Rig the Buggy Shrimp
- Ned rig: Pair with a 1/16–1/4 oz Ned head. Work it along the bottom with pauses that let its long antennae wave and compact legs quiver. Try it for freshwater bass or as a different presentation for inshore fish.
- Inshore jighead: Rig on a traditional jighead and work it near the bottom with gentle hops and pauses. Choose a head weight suited to your depth and current.
- Finesse Texas rig: 1/0 EWG hook, 1/8 oz bullet weight.
- Carolina rig: Drag or slowly crawl it across rocky bottom and structure.
- Skirted jig trailer: Pair with a 1/4 oz skirted jig.
Why It Works
- Long, waving antennae: Give the bait an attention-getting presence in the water, including during pauses.
- Compact, quivering legs: Add subtle movement around the body without a big, sprawling profile.
- Bug meets shrimp: Suggests a variety of freshwater critters or a shrimp-like meal for inshore fish.

A Note from Finn: Why I Chose This Mold
I saw this mold while looking for a shrimp mold. It was marketed as a shrimp, and yet I saw a bug. Either way, the versatility was hard to get out of my mind. I fish both fresh and salt water, and I figured this one would be a good bet in both. It’s a great compact bait with little kicker tips on the antennae that give excellent action when it’s pulled, and also when it’s sitting upright on a Ned head.
