Product Description
A Slender, Slow-Falling Finesse Worm
This 5.8" Straight Tail Worm is known for its good looks and subtle presentation. The flat underside helps the worm stay horizontal in the water longer. Nose-hooked on a drop shot, it suspends in the strike zone and quivers with the slightest rod movement or current. Fished weightless, it falls in a slow, naturally gliding motion. It looks especially good in translucent colors, where light can glow through the body.
Best For
- Largemouth and smallmouth bass on drop shots and finesse rigs
- Walleye on ledges and deep structure
- Clear water and pressured conditions
Use When
Reach for the 5.8" Straight Tail Worm when fish are finicky, you’re targeting suspended fish, or you need a subtle weightless presentation that beats a louder, bulkier bait.
How to Rig the Straight Tail Worm
- Drop shot: Nose-hook the 5.8" worm on a finesse hook sized to the bait. Start with a 1/4 oz drop shot weight and adjust for depth, wind, and current.
- Weightless: Use a 1/0 - 3/0 EWG hook with no weight near shallow cover in clear water. Match the hook to the worm so it hangs straight.
Why It Works
- Flat underside: Helps the worm stay horizontal longer, giving fish more time to spot it.
- Translucent-color appeal: Lets light glow through the worm for a natural baitfish look.
- Slender profile: Delivers a subtle presentation when bulkier baits get ignored.

A Note from Finn: Why I Chose This Mold
I love making worms that are translucent, and this mold is perfect for it. The light plays really well off the rounded top and flat bottom. I really like how this worm moves. It makes lazy circles when I pause, which can help a fish commit to the bite.
