Product Description

A Finesse Worm for Drop Shotting and Swimming

The Kickin’ Finesse Worm 5.5" is a floating kicker-tail soft plastic that’s especially good for drop shotting and swimming. Its smaller profile and subtle tail flutter make it a great choice for finesse bass fishing in clear water and pressured conditions, as well as targeting walleye and perch. The kicker-style tail moves on the fall, with gentle rod movements, and during a steady swimming retrieve, giving you lifelike action without a loud presentation.

Photo comparison: Some photos show the 5.5", 7", and 9" Kickin’ Finesse Worms for size comparison. This listing is for the 5.5" size only.

Looking for another size? Try the larger 7" Kickin’ Finesse Worm or 9" Kickin’ Finesse Worm.

Made with floating plastic, this worm keeps its tails lifted. On a drop shot, small rod movements bring the kicker tails to life while you keep the bait near the fish.

Best For

  • Drop shotting for largemouth and smallmouth bass
  • Swimming presentations for bass, walleye, and perch
  • Clear to lightly stained water and pressured fish
  • Smaller-profile finesse presentations

Use When

Reach for the Kickin’ Finesse Worm 5.5" when fish are pressured or finicky, the water is clear, or post-front conditions call for a slow, subtle presentation. Drop shot it when you want to keep the bait near fish without moving it far from the strike zone, or swim it steadily when targeting bass, walleye, and perch with a smaller worm profile.

How to Rig the Kickin' Finesse Worm 5.5"

  • Drop shot: Nose-hook it on a size 1 finesse hook with a 1/4 oz drop shot weight as a starting setup. Use small shakes and pauses for a subtle presentation.
  • Swimming worm: Rig the worm straight on a suitably sized hook or jighead and use a slow, steady retrieve to bring the kicker tails to life. A good presentation for bass, walleye, and perch.
  • Shaky head: Match the head and hook to the 5.5-inch worm and work it slowly along the bottom, letting the floating tails lift during pauses.

Why It Works

  • Kicker-style tail: Subtle flutter with gentle rod movements, on the fall, and through the retrieve.
  • Floating plastic: Keeps the tails lifted for a lively finesse presentation.
  • 5.5-inch profile: A smaller worm that’s especially good for drop shotting and swimming for bass, walleye, and perch.
  • Versatile presentation: Keep it near fish on a drop shot or swim it steadily to cover water.

A Note from Finn: Why I Chose This Mold

The tails offer a little bit of action even while the worm is sitting still, and because I used a floating plastic the tail stays upright. These are great shaky head worms and an excellent swimming worm too. If you like fishing pintail worms, you can remove the kicker tails and you’ve got one of those. I like baits that give you a few options, and these do exactly that.
